Monday - Left Pecan Park and drove to Lakeview RV Park in Houston.

Wednesday (Christmas Eve) had kids over for Beef Burgundy.

Thursday - Christmas Day at Cory and Sandy's.

Friday - Drove to Galveston to see how it was doing since Hurricane Ike hit.

The Strand's exterior doesn't look very bad but only 10 - 20% of the stores are open.



There was some wind and there was a lot of spray in the air. They need to add more sand on the beach. There are places where the sea wall has been undermined.




Drove down the Bluewater Hwy to Surfside. South of the toll road it was at your own risk. At times we were on the beach.



We drove into Surfside and found out where the city got it's name. The wind and surf brought out the surfers in their wetsuits.



Joined John for dinner at Goode Seafood Company. Fun place to eat.

Saturday - Wedding Anniversary - Went to Brad Pitt movie - Strange Case of Benjamin Button and dinner at Pappadeaux. Excellent.


Sunday - Left Houston arrived Corpus Christi Lake State Park. Really enjoyed it. Had a pull-thru with 50 amp, water and sewer but no Wi-Fi. Woke up to deer in our back yard. Park hosts put out corn for the deer.

Mittens didn't notice the deer but Snickers did.

Arrived South Padre Island on Monday about 1:30PM, a day late because of wind. Went to Dirty Al's just outside of the park for dinner and drinks. Need to remember to bring passports for Mexico and a bicycle.



Tuesday started the day with walk around the park. 7AM.  Ate breakfast at Costa Del Mar in Point Isabel. Took a drive up SPI and walked the beach. I found a few shells I think I can wire wrap. Stopped at the visitors center. Drove back over the causeway to Point Isabel and drove on to Los Fresnos to a fruit stand and ate lunch at Julia's.  Picked up some groceries at Walmart. Ate dinner at home.
