South Padre Trip - December 18, 2008

First Day  - Elm Mott, Tx. - 12/18/08
- Drove in heavy fog to Elm Mott, Texas and staying at I-35 Rv Park.
It's a nice little RV park right off the interstate on Ross Rd. [254-829-0698] They have a swimming pool, game room, and even a cafe for breakfast and dinner. No camp fires though.

Maybe other Rvers are used to some to the rules but they are still a surprise to us. Example $5 charge if you wash your RV, $3 if you wash your truck. Larry was going to take the truck over and ask them to wash the truck.
Wanted to show the Christmas wreath on the front of the truck.

This is how our kitties travel on the road.

Went to Heitmiller Family Steakhouse [203 N Connally St, Elm Mott, Tx 76640 254-829-2651] for dinner. Local place. We were there several years ago and you used to write out your own order with a golf pencil. Original owner died and his widow sold the place. Food still home made but lost a little of what made the place special. Get steak or chicken fried steak. Beer but no well drinks.

Also passed up a beer 'garten' in West Texas which might have been good. Have to try that sometime.

San Marcos, Tx. - 12/19/08 - Woke up to heavy fog again but today it cleared up. At Temple there was an accident that had the highway backed up. We got out the CB and listened to the truck drivers. There was a lot of titty talk and truckers full of Christmas cheer...not.
Drove to San Marcos to stay at Pecan Park. Exit 205 off I-35. [512-396-0070]

We went over to Katie and Paul's and Paul made us dinner...chicken and dumplings...wow...it was good. Saturday we had breakfast courtesy of Paul and went Christmas shopping and baby shopping and went to Luling for some Luling BBQ.

Sunday Katie made Beef Burgundy for dinner and we had our Christmas. Zack and Tyler were there. It was a nice day. And i didn't take any pictures and I'm kicking my butt. Oh well...we'll be back.

Good to see at least someones web connection worked. As for the charges for washing, I would just let the dirt pile up. You guys can wash it when you get home. Happy travels.
